Boy Meets World references:

The introduction, it seemed like it was Cory and Shawn doing a radio show but also when Topanga was an anchor for the news at school. Both of those seemed as a mix for me.

When Topanga said “well-rehearsed” it reminded me of Mr. Feeny saying that about Eric making Morgan trained when Mr. Feeny’s niece was at his house.

EPISODE RECAP:

Girl Meets Farkle’s choice opened up with Riley and Maya doing the morning announcements for school. Maya kept laughing at Riley who was messing everything up. Farkle ending up joining them and show them that he had two tickets to the Buggy Awards. He told said that he wanted to take one of them as his date. The next scene is them in the classroom. Cory asks the class who the United States ally is and then ask Farkle if he knows the answer. Farkle seemingly not himself replies telling Cory that it’s Canada and that he’s not himself because has to make the hard decision on who he is taking to the awards – either Maya or Riley.

The next scene is with Topanga and Auggie. They are having a book party at the house with some other kids and Ava is there with her Mom. Ava’s mom starts talking a in a British accent and Topanga asks her if she’s British. Ava’s mom tells her that she isn’t and as they are getting ready to start the reading comments on what a cute girl Auggie is. Topanga corrects her and tells her that Auggie is a boy. You can tell that Topanga is not a fan of Ava’s mom who seems a bit on the rude side. Ava’s mom starts reading and then when done it is Auggie’s turn. Auggie says he wants Mommy to read to him and Ava’s mom makes a comment that he’s a little too old to be read to and Topanga says “No he’s not.“ Ava’s mom says to her that it’s okay because it is scientifically proven that boys develop at a different pace. The camera then pans to Cory who is hilariously playing with the juice box that he has in his hands. (that part was so funny that I actually laughed out loud.)

Next we are with Farkle, Maya, and Riley in the subway. Farkle is trying to make his choice on who he wants to take with him. Riley thanks Farkle for the slurpy and tells him that he got exactly the way she likes it. Farkle says he’s loved her since the first grade but says he’s never told her why. When Riley starts to talk Farkle tells her to hold that thought and slides his chair over to Maya. He tells her to have some mustard with that pretzel. Maya says that she’s going to eat it then leave but Farkle has other plans. He brings up his 8th birthday party and Maya says she doesn’t remember it all. Farkle then pulls out a skateboard to jog her memory. She asks him “You kept this?” He tells her that he kept it and that the reason why is that it was the only time he saw her cry. Farkle then goes back to Riley who tells him not to think he’s going to make her emotional like he did with Maya. However, Farkle pulls out a stuffed Hippo that Riley instantly remembers because he gave it to her when she got her tonsils out. She tells him that she lost the one that he gave her and he tells bought two of them to keep incase she lost it. She thanks him and then Maya thanks him. The two of them both realize that Farkle is speed dating them. He tells him that if wins the award that he’s nominated for that he wants someone who is special to him to be there and that if he loses he wants someone to be there for him. When Farkle leaves to go pay for the food two boys come up and start messing with Riley and Maya. Farkle comes back to see what is going on and scares them off with a spider. He tells the girls that he’s Canada and will always be there for them. Riley tells Maya she’s going to go with him to the awards ceremony and Maya asks what shes talking about that she’s going to with him.

The next scene is at the school in the hallway with Maya and Riley looking at Farkle who is at his locker. Maya wants to know if Riley text him and she tells Maya absolutely not. Riley asks if Maya did the video chat with him and Maya says that she didn’t. Farkle comes back and thanks Riley for the text and tells Maya that he had fun on the video chat. The girls said they were not supposed to do anything that would influence their decision. Maya pulls out a spider and scares Riley off with it then Farkle gets his spider out to meet Maya’s but things took a turn when Maya’s spider bit off the head of Farkles spider. Farkle freaks out and then Riley comes back saying that she’s not afraid of Spiders. Maya then puts its on her head to prove a point but Riley gets through it. Farkle thanks her for going out of her comfort zone for him and that he‘s impressed. He also tells both girls that they are even. Cory comes by eating something and Riley says “ Hi Dad the spider is laying eggs in my brain” Cory says “Yeah okay” and walks off.

Back at home Topanga is still doing her book club with Auggie. Auggie is reading and its obvious from what he is saying that Topanga told him to say it. After he gets done, Auggie says he still likes it when Mommy reads to him. Topanga calls Cory over to her and he starts off telling the story and being all goofy which makes the kids laugh. Topanga joins in to help save “Murry” and the kids all pile up on Cory. Ava tells her mom she’s sorry and jumps up to jump on the pile. Defeated Ava’s mom says that it is time to go. Ava says that she prefers it when Topanga kicks her out. Topanga picks her up and puts her outside the door and Ava says “Now slam the door” and so Topanga shuts the door in their face. After they leave Cory pretends to be a penguin.

In the next scene Riley is sitting in her room with Farkle before he has to go to the awards but Maya shows up and ruins Riley’s plan to try and get Farkle to take her. The two start bickering and Farkle says that he’s not going to take either of them and withdraws his offer. He says that he would rather go alone than hurt two of his best friends and says that is his choice.

At the award ceremony we are introduced to the host of the event who is no other than Jane Lynch! (I love her as Sue on Glee) She tells off the names and starts presenting all the awards. Back at home Riley and Maya feel terrible that they ruined Farkles night and not only that but let him come between us. Riley says from not on lets not settle for anyone less than Farkle.

Back at the awards ceremony Jane does a tribute to those lost this year and she does a little song. I personally loved seeing Jane on here! I love Glee so I was super excited when I found out she was going to be a guest star on Girl Meets World! Not only is she an amazing actress but she’s a very talented singer. Smackle approaches Farkle saying she hopes that he didn’t write a speech. She asks him if he’s available and tries to get him to rule the world with her. Farkle says that it would never work out because they are both evil genius and that science dictates that light forces repel. Farkle turns his attention back to Jane who is presenting the final award of the evening. Riley and Maya end up showing up at the end so that Farkle is not alone. Smackle who was up against Farkle wins the award that Jane presented. Smackle gets on the stage and makes a comment about Maya and Riley interrupting. Riley says they are not interrupting and that they are Canada. She goes on to say they will never take Farkle for granted again then the two girls start singing the Canadian National Anthem.

The next day Riley and May are doing announcements and Riley is once again messing everything up which causes Maya to laugh again. Sabrina’s laugh is adorable. In the classroom Cory and the class are watching “He says unbelievable” and Farkle says “I think they’re perfect” and that was the end of the episode. I loved the episode and thought it was great. The lesson was to always stick by your friends and don’t let anything come between you that would tear that friendship a part.
