Experience by Marcela

My name is Marcela and I am and have been a huge Boy Meets World can for as long as I can remember. I love everything about the old show and was hesitant when I heard about the sequel because I’m not a fan of sequels and I didn’t want the legendary boy meets world to get ruined (not that it could). Originally a friend and I had tickets for a February taping, but that session was cancelled so they sent us tickets for the March 11th taping. And since we missed out in that February show, we had priority for the March taping. First of all I’ve never been on a TV set before so that in itself was insanely cool. Robert, the warm up guy was awesomely funny and very entertaining through set and costume changes. Before the filming started, Michael Jacobs the producer of both shows, introduced himself and expressed his gratitude. Then we were able to see the pilot episode and I was gladly not disappointed. It’s hard to explain but there are so many similarities and differences between BMW and GMW but I can happily say that Cory is still Cory, only in dad/teacher form which is awesome. Topanga is still Topanga (she’s kinda always been a mother) and their kids couldn’t fit the characters more perfectly. After the episode Jacobs introduced the cast which was so fun and we got to see MINKUS! So unbelievably cool. Ben Savage was such a sweetheart he came to the audience and expressed his gratitude as well and how excited he was that were giving GMW a chance and even gave a couple lucky fans a hug! We had a unique experience because we had a connection to one of the Co-Producers so we were actually able to go on set and personally introduce to the cast (AMAZING) and the cast do generously tried to take pictures and sign autographs for everyone in the audience. Ben stayed till like the last second which I admired. For those considering going, I know I had special privileges but I think no matter where you sit or who you know it will truly be the best experience. Everyone you encounter is unbelievably kind. Everyone and everyone, and I mean EVERYONE wants to make sure you’re having a great time. I will never forget my experience at the taping, and I seriously look forward to when GMW airs. GMW is finally bringing family back to tv! With the same heart and laughs and precious moments as the amazing Boy Meets World.

Experience by Jenessa Hickey

I went to a taping of an upcoming television show “Girl Meets World”, which is the sequel to “Boy Meets World”. During this experience I had a lot of fun! I had amazing seats in the audience and the comedian was amazing. The actors were terrific and very humorous I was laughing the whole time. They know how to put on an incredible show. I very much enjoyed seeing the behind the scenes action and what it takes to create an episode. I definitely support the idea of coming to tapings, and I recommend watching the show when it airs. It is a must see! You will absolutely adore the characters and learn life important lessons on friendship and family, and in addition will have a lot of laughs. I predict this will be Disney’s next greatest show!

Experience by Natalie

I went to the GMW taping on 3/11/14 with my older sister. we were huge fans of BMW when we were little so she promised to take me as a late birthday present. I’m in a wheelchair so when we arrived at the studios to check in, they told us we would have to be off to the side in video village because there was no way we could get the wheelchair up the stairs to the risers, and i can’t walk. I was a film major in school so I know exactly what that meant and got even more excited. even though we were not in the same room as filming and we watched on monitors, it was still a blast because video village is where the actors pass to come and go. it was such a great experience. we were there for about 3 hours and they filmed about four scenes. I don’t want to spoil what the episode was about, but it featured the backstory of Farkle and had a great guest star, who is an actor I’ve met many times and always love seeing. it also featured a lot of great scenes between Maya and Riley. Boy Meets World was always a great show about simple family fun and wholesome goodness, and Girl Meets World is no exception. at various points, Ben and Danielle walked by and we waved and said hello. they walked over to us and we talked quickly. When Sabrina walked by, we waved and said hello as well. To our surprise, she came running over a little while later and goes ‘Sorry, they pulled me away quick and we didn’t get to chat. I’m Sabrina’. She was SO sweet and adorable. We chatted quickly before she got pulled away again. it made a huge impression on me that even though we just waved hello at her at first, she made a mental note to come back over. Ben and Danielle did the same. you could tell they really care about their fans and they mean well, even if work gets in the way. their intention is to go back and finish a conversation they start. When the taping was over, video village began to clear out and my sister and I were not sure where to go. One of the ladies came over to us and asked if we wanted to meet cast. We said sure but we weren’t sure how. she cleared a way for us and we made our way to go where everyone was signing autographs and taking pictures with the audience. She was so kind to try to get every cast member over when they got a moment. we had seen and talked to Ben sporadically through out the day, but he still came over to take a picture with us. He was so kind and sweet when he saw us and said ‘you guys want a picture, right?’. We said yes when he had a moment. He said ok, he’d be right back. I felt so bad for him and all the cast because they had just worked for 4 hours and were now running around like chickens with their heads cut off to meet fans. they were so kind and accommodating, it made me respect them more. through some team work, we were able to meet Sabrina, Rowan, Peyton, Lee, August, and Ben. I’m a screenwriter and video editor, so I also really wanted to meet some crew and I met two of the writers. I really wanted to meet Michael Jacobs, the executive producer, so they brought him over to me. He was so kind and sweet and seemed surprised I wanted to talk to him. He was very personable and got excited when he heard I was a writer. He immediately engaged in conversation with me and started giving me advice. I was so star struck and shocked. I couldn’t believe how kind he was being. It made my entire night. All in all, it was such an amazing experience I will never forget!

SPOILERS:

We watched them film an episode about Maya’s backstory and Farkle’s SPOILER: Farkle is Minkus’ son and they played on the rivalry Cory, Topanga and Minkus have always had, both Cory because he ended up with Topanga, and Topanga with Minkus cause they got more A’s than each other. Also, Riley was having a bit of an identity crisis not knowing what she’s good at or meant for, which made for good laughs as she figured it out. They had a career day and Maya’s mom didn’t show, which flared Riley’s need to fix everything, and Maya tried to calm her down. It really showed how she is totally Cory and Topanga’s kid and such a good friend, like they were.

Some fun tidbits about filming: there were a couple of mess ups, a cute one by Ben Savage when he started a line once and then stops and goes ‘that was WAY too over the top. starting again’. it was sweet and everyone laughed. At one point, Danielle said her line and August goes ‘wait, you didn’t let me say mine!’. Everyone died laughing! It was very sweet and you could tell everyone was a very close knit family.

All in all, an amazing experience and we got to meet a lot of great people! Everyone was so kind and gracious and would say ‘thanks for coming out. hope to see you again!’. You definitely will, guys.

Experience by Christy

Hello! My name is Christy and I went to the live taping of GMW tonight. It was AMAZING. Not only was the show absolutely amazing, all of the cast were extremely humble despite the immense talent.
The script was hilarious, and even though we all love Topanga and Cory, the new generation is just as heart felt and lovable. Great experience. I have plenty of pics if you want them!
