The Girl Meets World hiatus is almost over! New episodes of Girl Meets World return starting September 12th. If you’ve missed out on some of the episodes, you can watch a small mini-marathon this Friday on the Disney Channel from 8PM-10PM EST/PST. The episodes are “Girl Meets Father”, “Girl Meets the Truth”, “Girl Meets Popular” and “Girl Meets Maya’s Mother”.

Cinefilles.ca interviewed Ben and Rowan on the phone recently.

Cinefilles wondered if Girl Meets World had plans to do any fun one-off episodes like ones mentioned previously, or even in the style of horror movie tribute episode “And Then There Was Shawn” (more on that a couple of times in the next few minutes). That’s when the duo revealed that there’s an episode set in 1961 coming right up like a freshly made Chubbie’s hamburger and shake.

“We actually did an episode where we didn’t exactly go back in time, but we kind of did like a flashback episode,” Blanchard said. “It’s called ‘Girl Meets 1961′ and we go back and we play our great grandparents.

Ben said he sees the first season of Girl Meets World as a map for the series.

Did you have any challenges with the role in a completely new setting?
I was a little apprehensive about how to play the character. I’ve really enjoyed playing the character from a different perspective — from the older perspective, from being a dad and being a teacher.

Rowan, did you watch the show Boys Meets World before you began this series?
I had seen one or two episodes along with Full House and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. When I got the role, I went back and watched every single episode.

What was it like taking on the role of the iconic couple’s daughter?
Getting to play the iconic character’s child was very cool. Getting to work with them every week was very cool. I was very excited about this project because even the episodes I’d seen of Boy Meets World, I saw that overall they valued real life lessons and yet I was still laughing. So, I knew that hopefully this project would be similar to that. There hadn’t really been something that was like that for my age group. The thought that we’re doing that again is very exciting.
