Sabrina recently sat down with Teen Vogue to talk about her newly released move “Adventures In Babysitting”, Girl Meets World, and her music.  We’ve copied some parts of the interview below but you can read it in full here: http://www.teenvogue.com/story/adventures-in-babysitting-sabrina-carpenter

TV: What stuck out most to you about Jenny?

SC: Jenny is kind of annoying, I’m not going to lie, but she’s got a lot of great personality.[Laughs] I promise I’ll make her sound great after I just said that about her. She’s kind of like the picture-perfect babysitter, but not only that, just a picture-perfect teenage daughter, you know? The child that apparently every mother would want because she gets good grades, she has her priorities straight — or so she thinks — and she’s very by the book. She doesn’t like to break the rules or live on the edge, or really take any risks. That can help her only so much in life just because of the path that she does want to take. There’s always risk-taking that has to be involved in order for you to make something special, or to stand out, [but] she doesn’t quite realize that yet. It’s cool to see that whole story arc happen.

TV: How did you and Sophia figure out the dynamics between your character, Jenny, and Sofia’s character, Lola?

SC: That was something that happened very seamlessly. Actually, our first audition was the scene where we’re first meeting at the interview, and it was the perfect scene to audition with because I didn’t know her. Therefore, I could not like her very easily … until you start to get to know Sofia and it’s really hard not to love her. Throughout the film, we just had more fun with each other, and we were able to go off and add things that we felt that our characters would really say to each other. Our director and our whole cast and crew were so open to having us experiment and try things. It was really fun. It literally is just kind of what it looks like on screen. It was nothing but good memories.

TV: And that comes full circle with Girl Meets World. How is filming going?

SC: We are almost at the end of season three, which is crazy because they’re airing as we’re filming. We couldn’t be having more fun though. There [are] so many interesting things that happen when you grow on the show. It gets easier, but it gets harder at the same time because you always want to outdo your previous episode. You want to get better, and you want the characters to get stronger and to learn more. We’re in that stage right now where we’re able to take a lot of risks in the subjects that we cover in the show, and that’s really exciting for us to be able to relate to a whole new set of people every single week because there’s so much to dip into in life.

TV: Including high school, which is a whole new world for your characters. How is Maya taking it?

SC: We’ve got new teachers. We’ve got new classes. We’ve got bigger lockers. They’re not the little, stupid half ones anymore. We get whole ones, so it’s really fun. I’m very excited to see where it goes. It’s very hard for Maya because she’s still short and everybody in high school is really tall, but besides that, I think it’s honestly just navigating [a new experience]. … The core lesson in our show has always been friendship — friendship from day one — and if you watchBoy Meets World, it’s the same thing. You have love intertwined in those stories, but the core part of it is always the friendship. I think it shows you how important it is — in high school especially — to stick together with the ones that you love and the ones that you trust because it is such a crazy world, and it can feel pretty hard to be alone sometimes. We always get those moments, but to know that there’s people around you that love you and care about you is the most incredible thing and something that we sometimes take for granted.

TV: There is just so much going on for you right now. How are you balancing all of this with your music?

SC: I think what people see on the outside is a lot of acting right now, but the music is something that’s cool because it does happen undercover most of the time until it comes out. It is something that I get to do in the times where I’m not doing everything else, but at the same time, music is something that’s always around you constantly. And for me, I never stop writing. There’s never a time where I’m focusing on a movie or a time where I’m focusing on acting. I’m kind of always focused on both of them. They help each other out. Truly, with a sitcom and the rhythms of comedy … music is so helpful in that area of life.

Whenever I’m out and I hear something, I’m writing. It’s the process of writing it down and then just always creating wherever you go. I never stop creating. I’ve been working on my second album, and I’m so close to being done. It’s very, very exciting. It’s getting to that point where I can start to tour. I’m just excited for everyone to hear it, definitely in the next couple of months. It’s [a] completely different sound, I think, from what they heard in Eyes Wide Open— truly an evolution.
