Kalyn’s experience

What an amazing day, it has been! Was 5th in line to get into taping and met some awesome people along the way!

First off I traveled from Fresno, 3 or so hours away…definitely worth the trip! Shoutout to the “Awesome Seven!”

Those that are curious if it’s going to be a good show, you are definitely in for a GREAT SHOW! Hilarious, just like BMW. And it’s the same feeling when watching Boy Meets World, just a different dynamic.

I can’t wait for everyone to watch the pilot and watch the second episode like we did. I just wish I remembered what C.I.A stood for again…?! Lol

Eamon’s experience

Being a part of Girl Meets World’s first live studio audience was a dream come true.

The live set consists of the classroom, the living room/kitchen, and Riley’s room. The classroom is an oldschool, twelve-desk, Feeny-style classroom (yes, with his wise words from the finale on the back wall). The layout of the living room/kitchen is reminiscent of the one from Friends and other such sitcom apartments. Impressionist paintings adorn the wall. The decor is comfortable, bright, and simple. Basically, it screams Topanga and Cory. Riley’s room looks neat, girly, and also comfortable. All of this is right in front of us as we come in.

Before we get to see any of the cast or other cool people, they show us the video of the pilot episode. This one was recorded with no audience, but already had a different audience laugh for the tape. As for the pilot, Ben and Danielle jumped flawlessly back into their old characters as if no time passed at all for them, but this show is not Boy Meets World. It’s faster, goofier, more in your face. The heart and comedy are still there though, and the casting is excellent.
The first episode is a tale about friendship and being true to yourself, whose moral is tied in, in true BMW fashion, to Mr. Matthews’s history lesson on the Civil War. He has neither Feeny’s wisdom nor his control of a classroom, but he’s unquestionably the Cory we all know and love. Maya and her friendship with Riley also distinctly parallel Shawn and his friendship with Cory, as Maya has a tough home life and acts out, needing Riley to set her straight.
Once the pilot’s over, we get to meet Michael Jacobs and the cast. Jacobs acknowledged that the internet is calling Riley and Tristan “the next Cory and Topanga,” and responded saying, “it’s up to you guys.” For the second episode, they showed us the scenes filmed elsewhere on video, and we got to watch them film live the scenes that take place in the above-mentioned locations. They’re using our laughter for both. Between takes, the actors walked around a lot. Rowan seemed intent on hugging everyone on set. Danielle seemed thrilled to be around all the kids. At one point between takes, Ben came to talk to the audience. He thanked us for coming and signed some stuff.
The second episode was about honesty and showing appreciation to those you love. In it, Cory passes on to Riley the wisdom that his seven years of being a sitcom protagonist taught him – that the “universe” loves them and is out to teach them lessons and take care of them. And although Cory consistently acts much more immature than his father Alan ever did, he and his daughter do both learn their lessons together in the end. In this episode, we also get to meet August, who is downright adorable.
Seeing all this in person was an amazingly cool experience, and I look forward to seeing how this show develops.
