“Girl Meets the Forgotten”

On Friday, October 10th 2014, Disney Channel aired what is in my opinion the most stand out episode of Girl Meets World that we have seen so far from season one. In this episode we got to see Danny McNulty return to his “Boy Meets World” role as Harley Keiner. The history lesson was called “The Forgotten” which the kids were given a lesson by Cory and Farkle about the Great Depression in 1929. After the kids made a mess in the cafeteria, Cory assigned Riley, Maya, Lucas and Farkle 45 minute jobs during school hours. Riley and Maya were put on cafeteria duty while Lucas and Farkle were put on Janitor duty. These kids didn’t realize when going into do these jobs how janitors and cafeteria workers are not as appreciated as they should be. Harley, the school janitor showed Lucas and Farkle what he deals with on a daily basis cleaning up the messes that the students make during school hours, or cleaning up the vomit when the students get sick. Geralyn, the cafeteria worker showed Riley and Maya how much work goes into cooking meals for the students and what all she has to endure during school hours. After doing these jobs, the kids realized how much these people work day in and day out in the school. Also who else loved it when Harley said to Cory “I appreciate you, Baboon”?

This episode was able to show the viewers that they should appreciate what their parents and school workers do for them. Most kids think that the janitors and cafeteria workers have it easy and this episode was able to show that they don’t. I thought that this episode sent out an amazing message to appreciate the people around you. You don’t realize what your parents do for you or what the people in your school do for you. I loved that Girl Meets World actually showed you the inside work that janitors and cafeteria workers do. The kids that watched this episode were able to see for themselves what these people do for them. At the end of the episode, Riley, Maya, Lucas and Farkle learned to appreciate what Harley and Geralyn do for them and told their classmates that they are taken for granted. Riley gave Topanga a hug at the end of the episode, told her that she loved her, and that she appreciated everything that she does for her and Auggie. If you are a younger viewer reading this, go give your parents a hug, tell them you love them, and thank them for all that they do for you. They provide you a home and meals. Thank you Girl Meets World, cast, crew, and writers for sending such an important message to the younger viewers.

Girl Meets Crazy Hat

Alright, this episode was pretty neat – especially Jackee Harry was back. She was “Crazy Hat” and she helped guide Riley and Maya at the subway station. She looks like she can be a female mentor to them and I would love to see her be a female version of Mr. Feeny or Mr.Turner in the future. This episode left her open to reappear in the future which is what I’m happy about.

This episode taught a great lesson and has heart just like every episode so far. Cory was trying to teach the class what happened in Belgium in 1831. The whole episode then changed to a different storyline due to Riley throwing a small tantrum, so Cory then divided the class into two groups. Riley and Farkle being in one group and Maya and Lucas being in another group. They had to sell muffins.

Riley and Farkle were selling sugary muffins while Maya and Lucas were selling healthy muffins. Riley and Farkle’s muffins were selling out quickly since obviously the people loved the sugary muffins. Farkle turned into a greedy CEO. Riley and Maya were both fired. They went to the subway station and Jackee Harry as “Crazy Hat” guided them and they ended up selling umbrellas as a Non-Profit Organization which helped out people as they grabbed umbrellas at the end of the episode on the subway station.

Topanga’s storyline was great with Auggie and Ava. Auggie was using his money to buy stuff for Ava and Ava told Topanga to raise Auggie’s allowance so he can get her more stuff and that annoyed Topanga. It was funny how Topanga kicked Ava out of the house.

Also what I found amazing is when Jackee did the “rawr” at the subway station and it brought me back to Cory doing that with the dinosaurs at Mr. Feeny when no one wanted to take his test. Was that only me who thought of that?

Girl Meets 1961

What a fantastic episode that was directed by Rider Strong. The actors matured in this episode. They played their own great grandparents so fantastically. Their acting was top-notch in this episode.

This episode was about Riley, Maya, Farkle and Lucas studied about being their great grandparents and they obviously dressed up as them in the episode in the 60s. Riley portrayed Audrey Hepburn Rosie McGee who was Topanga’s great-grandmother. Lucas was a country singer who’s great-grandfather was Merlin Skoggins, who later went to jail for a little while. Lucas said he went left instead of right which obviously doesn’t sound well. Maya was on her way to Topanga canyon to make art and play music, who was starting to doubt her skills as an artist. Well, her great grandmother was like Maya in a very similar way as she was dealing with her singing the way Maya was dealing with her artist skills. Farkle’s great-grandfather was great. Especially how both Farkle’s photographs were matching.

“Don’t make assumptions based on what you see” – Lucas

Finally, the small hiatus is over and new episodes are back!

This episode in my opinion was the best yet. This was also Ben Savage’s directorial debut. This episode also seemed familiar to Boy Meets World Season 2, Episode 12 Turnaround where Cory and Shawn give a girl makeup to make her look more popular.

This episode focused on appearance which is something that effects everyone these days.  It taught us that it is more important to be a good person rather than it is to be beautiful. Another strong point in this episode is that you shouldn’t assume that people who are beautiful aren’t smart.

Smackle wanted to change her appearance as she thought Farkle liked Riley and Maya because they are beautiful and she thought she wasn’t but it turns out she did this for her debate to show everyone that the inside of you is what truly matters the most, not your appearance. Smackle wanted Riley and Maya to give her a makeover. Turns out, Farkle didn’t care about her beauty and he wanted to win the debate when she actually cared about the debate but instead she focused more on her beauty. She ended up not caring about the beauty when she was giving her speech at the debate. She also won the debate.

Lee Norris

That was an hilarious and also heartwarming episode. We met Maya’s mother, we saw Minkus (how great was it to see him again?!), and got to learn about Mayas parents.

Katy (Maya’s mother) is chasing her husband like Chet (Shawn’s father in Boy Meets World) was chasing his wife.

Katy also inspires to be an actress but she is a waitress. She loves Maya and as she says “She won’t pretend with her”. The scenes with Riley and Katy were serious moments which I’ve enjoyed. Not only that, but the episode all together had humor with hard material all mixed in well which was great.

Minkus and Topangas rivalry over the A’s continuing to Girl Meets World. Topanga had 1260 A’s with Riley combined while Minkus had 1261 A’s with Farkle. At the end, Cory gives Riley another A which ends up for Topanga and Riley to have tie A’s with Minkus and Farkle.

Yes, Minkus is Farkle’s dad.

The paint scene, the dinner scene with the Matthew’s talents (Your moms hips don’t lie), Corys close up magician and one of the best lines from Riley and Maya to Minkus “Yes sir, it’s us. We hope that one day one of us will be lucky enough to become the future Mrs. Farkle Minkus…. And have a lot of baby Minkii.”.

This episode was very hilarious and it had great moments.

Girl Meets World / August 9th, 2014

We’ve decided to move the episode discussions onto our homepage as our forum activity hasn’t been picking up.

Girl Meets Popular was the best episode by far. The Boy Meets World flashback, the old Topanga coming back to influence and mentor the new Topanga on how to guide her through a difficult case and helped her do the right thing so she purchased the bakery as the bakery was going to be taken away.

The lesson of being yourself and cultural appropriation was amazing. Riley is invited to a party and she discovers that it’s an unpopular party and they all love her. She turns into a Harajuku girl. Later on while in class, they were having a spelling bee. It turns out Riley cannot spell Harajuku. Cory then gave a short history summary on the Harajuku culture and that was what the Japanese created. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this in a show in a while, it was amazing.

There was so many Boy Meets World references and of course the Boy Meets World flashback of Cory, Topanga and we saw Shawn in it as well. It showed them when Topanga was her old self which was to connect them when Cory and Topanga were looking in the mirror. Cory saying hi to the old Topanga and the old Topanga saying hi to Cory was so crazy in a good way.

It was awesome seeing Cloris Leachman and Willie Garson (he played a few characters in Boy Meets World) guest star in tonight’s episode.
