We received an awesome open letter from a girl named Gabby who has been a fan of “Boy Meets World” since she was 6 years old. She has gone to taping’s of Girl Meets World and has also seen the pilot. Read the amazing open letter below.

Open Letter From Gabby

Ever since the pilot for Girl Meets World has been made available, there has been a lot of buzz about the show. A lot of it has been great but there’s still an overwhelming amount that has been harsh and negative.

This open letter is for every doubter out there.

Nostalgia. Childhood. Memories. The 90’s. Ahhh, yes…those were the good old days.
Friday, September 24, 1993. I remember this day well because my mom organized this big birthday party for my best friend. It was her 6th birthday. And we were all there. Friends, cousins, family. It was also the day Boy Meets World first premiered. My cousins, who were just a couple years older than me, had this huge crush on Fred Savage, and they were all huge fans of The Wonder Years. So naturally, I grew up knowing about the Savage brothers only too well. I knew about Ben Savage. That cute, little kid from Little Monsters. A movie that both fascinated me and terrified me. My aunts and older cousins gathered us around the television that evening, and we were told that Fred Savage’s little brother, Ben, had his own TV show. I was hooked on the show from the moment I began to watch it. We all were.

That was the show that my parents, my friends, my cousins, and neighbors all watched and then talked about every weekend. My mother adored Fred and Ben Savage. (Still does, she loves them more than I do.) And I had an instant crush on Ben. In fact, my crush on him was so big that I took a picture of him to my class, for Show & Tell, and declared that I was gonna grow up to marry him. (True story. I will NEVER live that one down.)
I remember asking my mom about Romeo & Juliet at 6 years old.

Bob D’Amico/DISNEY CHANNEL The stars of the Disney Channel’s “Girl Meets World”: from left, Corey Fogelmanis, Sabrina Carpenter, Danielle Fishel, Rowan Blanchard, Ben Savage, August Maturo and Peyton Meyer

NY Daily News interviewed Ben, Danielle and Rowan.

As grownups, they are charting new territory — trying to bridge the legacy of the ABC prime-time cult hit with a younger Disney Channel audience with no ’90s nostalgia.

“This show is going to be catering to a more diverse audience, far more diverse than ‘Boy Meets World,’” says Ben Savage, who is reprising his role as Cory Matthews. “ ‘Boy Meets World’ catered to teens and young adults. Now we’re catering to the Disney audience and Disney demographics, but we’re also playing to the audience that grew up with us.”

“It’s a nice role reversal,” Savage said. “It’s an interesting twist to see everything from a girl’s perspective now.”

Girl-Meets-World

WARNING THERE ARE SPOILERS MENTIONED IN THIS INTERVIEW.

It’s a rehearsal day on the Girl Meets World set. Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel have traded the polished working-adult garb they wear on taping days in favor of casual, loose-fitting T-shirts. They have gathered in Savage’s dressing room for their interview, and though they play the parents on Disney’s upcoming Boy Meets World spin-off, sitting side-by-side cross-legged on the floor, they look just as youthful as when viewers first watched them on the small screen in 1993.  And, as the pair, both 33, explain in their sit-down with EW ahead of the show’s June 27 premiere, little has changed since then too. Oh, except they’re parents now.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What are you working on today? Last time I was here, you had dried milk on your face.
BEN SAVAGE (Cory Matthews):
Cereal! Well, this episode is Riley’s first date, and it’s sort of the parents — really Cory — terrified that his daughter is going on her first date. It’s basically how he’s handling it and then the date, and then Topanga’s character is a lot cooler and a lot more confident and happy.
DANIELLE FISHEL (Topanga Matthews): Yeah, all season long, the kids have been a foursome. They’re a group. But there are obvious flirtations between our daughter and her crush Lucas (Peyton Meyer). It’s the end of seventh grade, and people are starting to show an interest in coupling up. So this episode is really about Lucas getting up the nerve to ask Riley (Rowan Blanchard) out on a date, and it is Riley dealing with her first foray into a real adult situation like dating.

SPOILER WARNING.

Here is another scoop E! Online gave us:

Olivia: Okay I’m freaking out! I already watched the series premiere of Girl Meets World and it’s the cutest thing. Got any scoop on any more Boy Meets World connections?

We saw the pilot too! Isn’t it just a-freakin’-dorable?! We were particularly taken with Farkle, Riley’s know-it-all classmate, because he reminded us so much of Lee Norris’ Minkus from Boy Meets World. Wanna know a secret that we’ve had to keep hush-hush for a long time? Mikus is Farkle’s father! Get ready, Girl Meets World fans because later this season we’re going to see a truly hilarious scene with Minkus, Farkle and Shawn Hunter. Needless to say, Shawn is absolutely baffled to see how alike Minkus and Farkle are. The term “mini-me” will mostly definitely be tossed out there.

WARNING THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS

Fan Review by Carrie!

Today a new generation in my house was officially introduced to the wonder of Cory Matthews and his wife Topanga. I sat and watched  (with chills and tears I might add.) the online sneak peek with my 8 year old niece, my 3 year old niece and my 8 month old nephew.  My nephew babbled happily and smiled at my lap and my nieces laughed along with me at all the funny parts. I will admit though, the first few minutes had me a bit worried as I could see how it might have the Disney feel to it. BUT, as it went on, it was very reminiscent of its predecessor at the same time though it found its own groove. Riley and Maya are very much Cory and Shawn. I love the chemistry and the dynamic of their friendship. The last scene on the subway was very Shawn and Cory-scentric. I love that Riley is like Cory in that she wants her best friend to succeed in life and will save her even when she feels like she doesn’t need saving. You could see how easy it was for Ben and Danielle to step back into these roles. You could also see how easy they transitioned into the roles of parents. Cory as a teacher is perfect and to me it comes full circle. The little boy who was always one half of the duo giving Mr. Feeny a run for his money; even betting him that his job was easy in one episode has now become the teacher and mentor. This time to his daughter and her best friend who in turn give him a run for his money.
