Auggie and his family have teamed up with EpiPen to spread awareness about food allergies. Auggie was only 3 years old when his family first learned he had a food allergy. He was at a family get together and tried a cashew which caused a reaction. They doctors immediately gave him an epinephrine injection which helped him.

“Girl Meets World” actor Auggie Maturo is a high-energy 7-year-old who loves acting, playing baseball, the piano and volunteering. He’s also a child with severe allergies who is gaining a bit more independence from his parents. That means there are many discussions in the Maturo household about how to help Auggie always avoid his allergic triggers — to peanuts, tree nuts, sesame and coconut — and be prepared if anaphylaxis occurs.

Go here and check out the video where Auggie and his family explain what happened to him.

This is an excellent article on Girl Meets World and why it is a contender for best multi-cam sitcom. We wanted to share it because they said some great things about the show and made excellent points about how good its doing for being on the Disney Channel. We have quoted part of the article where it really discusses the show at length:

Just based on its title alone, Girl Meets World was considered nothing more than a nostalgia driven exploitation of the memories that existed for Boy Meets World fans that grew up with the original series in the 90s. Throughout the course of its development, you’d have been hard-pressed to find anyone who was legitimately excited for the sequel series as a whole as much as they were at the idea of seeing Cory and Topanga on screen again for the pilot, and you’d have had an even harder time finding anyone convinced the series could be any good since it was going to be airing on Disney Channel instead of the original’s home network of ABC. But, as is often the case with low-expectation television, Girl Meets World simply chose to ignore the critics and do the most daring thing it could: make itself its own great thing.

Girl Meets World isn’t just “an okay show for what it is” or “the best show on Disney Channel.” Girl Meets World is a legitimately pitch-perfect comedy and might actually be a contender (if not the frontrunner) for the title of best multi-cam sitcom on television. Because it’s on Disney Channel, no one’s trying to hammer in some broadcast network mandated quota of jokes-per-minute (see: Big Bang Theory), or make the show crass for crass-sake because it’s on primetime or cable (see: 2 Broke Girls and Anger Management). Rather, because it’s on Disney Channel, Girl Meets World is simply flying under the radar with legitimately developed characters that are standing apart from their predecessors while still finding time to work in appearances from the original show’s cast to satiate the appetite of older fans as they grow more acquainted to the new, millennial counter-parts.

Last week, the network held a “premiere event” that saw a new episode of the series air every night from Monday-Friday. In that time, the show expanded the relationship of Riley and Lucas, poked fun at its own narrative format (more than once), gave Shawn a legitimate reason to remain as a recurring guest star that matters to the arc of Maya, explained the dynamic of Maya and Riley’s relationship that involved more than just some hysterical one-lines, worked in appearances for Mr. Feeny and Eric Matthews’ infamous “Plays With Squirrels” persona, maintained a running gag of Cory’s inability to teach a traditional history lesson through the week and, to top it off, fleshed out the very much needed back-story of Lucas’ character. Girl Meets World isn’t a children’s show sequel to a prime-time, 90s sitcom airing on a children’s network, it’s a justifiably superb multi-cam sitcom that just happens to be airing on a network geared to pre-teen viewers. But, while there are reasons why Girl Meets World could be considered the comedic version of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. from a “right to exist” stand-point, it can also be argued that Girl Meets World is a far more important show to its medium thanAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D. could ever hope to be.

We thought it would be a great idea to do a discussion post about season 2. How are you guys liking Season 2 so far? Which character developments are you liking and what would you like to see on the show in the future? I know that I’m in the minority but I love what they are doing with the whole Shawn, Maya, and Katy storyline. A lot of people want Shawn with Angela but I think the writers are doing it right by Shawn’s character by putting him with Katy.  I think it is so fitting that Shawn would potentially become a step-father to a little girl who kind of has the same life style he did growing up. I personally hope him and Katy end up together. I want Maya to have her wish that they all three become a family together.  I know I’m wishful thinking but I think that somewhere down the line it would be so cute if Shawn and Katy got married then she had a baby. I would love to see Shawn as a father not just to Maya but to one of his own. I don’t know if the writers will go that route or not but just seeing him as a step father to Maya would be good enough for me. He gets Maya, and that’s why Maya is drawn to him. I personally love that. Plus I think Cheryl is a great actress and I hope we get to see more of her.  I think that show has matured so much in Season 2 and can’t wait to see how it progresses in the future! Hopefully we will get more than 4 seasons!

It’s kind of hard to recap this episode as it was mainly about Eric being back and there were so much humor that we’ll summarize the episode. Will Friedle hasn’t lost a beat. He is such a comedic genius, we laughed throughout the episode which was fantastic. Thank you for returning, Will Friedle!

Riley and Maya were in a fight because of Lucas calling Maya a “short stack of pancakes”. Riley didn’t defend Maya and didn’t disagree with Lucas which made Maya frustrated. Maya then said “When being right is more important than being friends, then that’s the end of being friends.” They go to class. Cory tells them that he has someone with an unique set of skills who can fix this. That person is Eric who is called in by Cory to help fix things between the four friends. Eric is scratching at the door (LOL) and Riley goes to the door. She opens the door and it’s Eric in the Plays with Squirrels costume! Of course the audience went absolutely crazy. Eric licks his lollipop and goes “I have been summoned”. and Riley yells “STRRRAANGGERRRR!” and blows her whistle. Eric blows his whistle after her and then he dances (LOL). She closes the door afterwards, Cory and Topanga comes in to see what Riley is making a fuss about. She tells them “Caveman!”. Topanga corrects her and goes “Honey, it’s not a caveman, it’s your Uncle Eric. Okay, it’s a caveman.” They open the door and Eric comes in.

Eric greets them all and says “Niche” to Riley (Boy Meets World reference to “Plays with Squirrels”). Riley tells Eric that she’s in a fight with her best friend and Eric tells her “There will be no losing friends. Lose one friend, lose all friends, lose yourself.” We found out Eric was elected as a Mayor and he’s running for US Senate.

Girl Meets World / May 15th, 2015

This episode was most likely written for the Boy Meets World fans. A lot of references and of course we get to see Philly and Mr. Feeny. It was so wonderful!

The episode opened up with Cory teaching a lesson about history. Riley starts reading a book and she reads about Pluto. She didn’t know Pluto wasn’t a planet and was upset about it. Maya and Cory were trying to make her happy but she was down about it. Cory is talking about history and they mention there was a time capsule found in Boston from 100 years ago and then he remembers that 15 years ago he put a time capsule with Topanga and Shawn in Philadelphia in Mr. Feeny’s backyard. After realizing this Cory decides he wants to go back to Philadelphia to dig it up.

In the next scene the kids are in Topanga’s Bakery. They’re hanging out and then Katy comes over to give them life advice (it seems that Katy might be offering them advice when they go there which we cannot complain about ) . Lucas said that he rode on sheep and they all laughed at him and he said “Are you laughing at me, Riley?” and Riley tells him that she wasn’t. Katy tells him and the gang to go for your dreams.

The next scene takes place at Cory and Topanga’s apartment which is where all the Boy Meets World references start to roll in (we absolutely loved it!). Cory and Topanga are talking about Philadelphia. Cory wants to get shovels but won’t say anything and Topanga is getting annoyed that he’s considering it. Cory finally says he’s getting shovels then Topanga laughs. Cory told Topanga that in order to get Shawn to come over he told him it was a life or death situation. We hear a knock on the door, and surprise, it’s Shawn! Shawn is worried and asks Cory if everything was was okay. Shawn said that they’re going to do everything Cory has ever dreamed over before anything happens to him. “We’re going to your favorite restaurant, we’re going to take the rolls.” Cory goes: “They want you to take the rolls!”

Girl Meets World / May 15th, 2015

EW.com posted an interview with Will Friedle about his return to Girl Meets World as well as sharing an exclusive clip from Girl Meets Mr. Squirrels (it was so hilarious, it gave us watery eyes!). Also, my friend Mar’s 2 year old nephew is the one who Will mentioned in the interview.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: How did Eric’s return come about?
WILL FRIEDLE: I woke up one morning, and I watched the show again, and said, “You know, this is the perfect opportunity for me to come back and to work with everybody again, and I really can’t pass this up.” So I called Michael Jacobs and I said, “Can we have lunch?” And he said, “Am I going to be happy?” And I said, “You know what, let’s just go to lunch.” So we went out to lunch at a place called the Grove, and I said to him, “Yeah, I think I’m ready to come back this year.” And he said, “I’ve been waiting for this call since we announced the show!”
