Firstly, Rowan you are a beautiful girl no matter what. You don’t need to be photoshopped or even wear make up to be beautiful, because it comes to you naturally.

For those who are unaware, there has been a bit of a controversy with TWIST magazine for photoshopping Rowan’s teeth on the cover photo of their latest issue. It’s a given in this technology driven age that magazines edit photos, but to photoshop a picture of a 13 year old girl is a tad alarming. Another example, Christina Aguilera’s baby was photoshopped by People magazine. This madness truly needs to stop as this is exactly why so many children have self image issues. This is the false hope that results in eating disorders, tanning beds and unhealthy habits that can end tragically.

TWIST, we are fully aware (unfortunately) that photoshop is done by every magazine under the sun, but young women look at your covers and go to extreme lengths to achieve this unnatural and unattainable appearance; this includes crystal clear skin, no stretch marks or cellulite and so on. An episode of the Girl Meets World (featuring Rowan Blanchard) titled “Girl Meets Flaws” delves into bullying in junior high school and recognizing that flaws are what make us human. Being “flawless,” like your cover photos, does not reflect reality. We are simply asking that you please, in the future, refrain from photoshopping the pictures of the young celebrities that you feature on your magazine. Our younger generation desperately needs someone to look up to, and Rowan is a wonderful role model but altering her (and other teenagers’) physical appearance just isn’t ethical in our eyes.

Here is a tweet where Rowan confronted TWIST Magazine about what they did.

Smart kid. Congrats go to her parents and those around her for keeping her humble and knowing what really matters.

Ok wow, what are they trying to do there? What does it matter if her teeth look exactly like a supermodel? She’s 13! I’m 14 and my teeth will never look like that. Both pictures are beautiful of course, but I love the one on the left because it’s really Rowan. That’s her real smile and it shows her beautiful face light up and her beautiful personality. Way to go Rowan! Do not let these magazine people get to you. You need nothing to make you beautiful. You’re already incredibly beautiful inside and out.

I’m glad she called them out on this. Twist makes themselves look ridiculous by thinking this is necessary.

Kudos to Rowan for calling TWIST out. It’s so dumb that they felt the need to photoshop her. Not to mention the poor job they did >.>
