WARNING THERE ARE SPOILERS.

Experience by Tony

I was fortunate to attend last nights taping, and it was a wonderful experience. The show definitely has a Boy Meets World feel, with a new flavor. Ben Savage, and Danielle Fishel still have that great Cory & Topanga chemistry. I grew up relating to many of the stories told in Boy Meets World, and I can imagine there are a countless number of children who will be able to relate to the new incarnation. I will also be attending next weeks taping, and I am thoroughly looking forward to another wonderful evening with the Matthews family.

Experience by Rich

As a guest of the January 14th taping of Girl Meets World, I would like to congratulate and thank the cast, writers, and etc. Ben as an adult “Cory” charms the socks off of his audience as he did when he was a kid. It was great to see “Cory” and “Topanga” as adults, passing on guidance to their children that reflect the lessons we witnessed in the original series; it is a brilliant continuation. The new cast members were very impressive and will surely find a new audience on their own, in addition to the already committed viewers. Also, I had been to tapings before where it was promised that we might get to meet the cast, but this is the first time it actually happened! For this reason, I forgive you for not serving club sandwiches and pizza (joke). I had a great time and hope to return soon as I do live nearby the studio. Thank you, and best wishes to you all!

Experience by Chantal

Hi, my name is Chantal and I went to a taping of Girl Meets World on January 14th, 2014. Let me give sort of a play by play of my experience. I don’t really want to spoil too much, so I won’t be covering a lot of the content of the episode. – Getting there: – I’d highly recommend leaving earlier than planned, especially if you haven’t been to a taping before. It’s located in Downtown L.A. and most likely, you will get lost. I probably spent 30 minutes after getting off the freeway trying to find the parking lot. If you’re using your GPS to find the parking, use the intersections Bixel and 6th Street. The parking lot is located on Bixel either JUST before 6th street on your left, or JUST after 6th street on your right depending on which way you’re going. It’s a very small opening and the place is covered with some dark colored cloth / tarp material. You will have to walk about three blocks uphill to get to the line. The earlier you arrive, the better chance you have of getting good seats (and getting in). TV shows overbook because not everyone who signs up comes, so just be aware of that. – Pretaping: – You’ll wait in line for a bit and it will be on a sidewalk and there is no seating. Also, the sun will be directly beating down on you (at least during this time of the year). I know it says no cellphones, but basically, for now, they seem to be okay with letting people bring in cellphones as long as they’re turned off, but I wouldn’t advertise that you’re bringing your cellphone because they still ask if you have a camera with you at the bag check. You’re not supposed to bring in your cellphone, but people have sneaked them in and no one confiscates it once you’re inside as far as I can tell. Also, once you get through security, you can go to the bathrooms. If you don’t go then, I believe once they start taping, you won’t be able to go until a scene is over. Once you get inside, the warm-up guy (basically to get you in the laughing mood) starts about 30 minutes before the taping begins. They showed us the pilot episode so we could get acquainted in the show.
I don’t know if this will be the actual pilot because Teo Halm was in the very end scene. He wasn’t mentioned by name or anything, but he was next to Danielle and Auggie wasn’t there.
– Taping: – The show starts taping around 5 PM during that time, they’ll shoot a scene a few times to make sure they get it right, etc. Basically try to keep up the energy that you had the first time you saw it. The warm-up guy will try to keep you entertained between takes. There will also be prizes given out, usually to people who either dance, sing, or perform something in front of the audience. There is a snack given out about halfway through the taping. On the day I went, it was a water bottle and a banana. Make sure you eat before you come to the taping. Ben was really cool and came down to say hi to us between one of the takes. Michael Jacobs also talked to the audience a few times about BMW and GMW. You can tell he’s really passionate about the shows. The taping ended around 7:30 PM (which is actually pretty good considering some 30 minute TV shows with live audiences take about 4 hours to tape on a regular basis). Afterwards, the cast will come out to sign autographs and take pictures. I saw Danielle sign a few autographs and take a few pictures. (I know the other cast members did the same, but I was only paying attention to Ben and Danielle.) You really have to try to get to the front ASAP because so many people want autographs and pictures and most of the cast leaves before everyone gets an autograph and / or picture. Ben was amazing because he stayed until every last person who wanted an autograph and / or picture with him left. I was the last one because I was too nice and kept on letting people in front of me. I think it was really kind, generous, and sweet of him to do that because he has things to do and he’s not obligated to do this at all. You can tell he really appreciates the fans. I know the other cast members appreciate us all as well, but he went above and beyond, that’s for sure! 🙂 – Things I noticed about the series: – According to what I overheard Ben tell a fan, he thinks the name of this episode is Girl Meets Father (this might not be the actual title, though) – Peyton Meyer’s character Tristian Friar has had his name changed to Lucas Friar – August Maturo’s character Louis Matthews has had his name changed to Auggie Matthews – So far, I haven’t heard any mention of Topanga owning a pudding shop – There are several similarities between Girl Meets World and Boy Meets World such as the name of the school (John Quincy Adams Middle School), the layout of the school, and some of the themes of the episodes from BMW have carried over to GMW, but have a new spin or twist on them. Basically, don’t expect the same show, but expect that it will be reminiscent of BMW. It is its own show though. ~Chantal P.S. Please excuse the quality of my images. I took them with my Nintendo 3DS system and the photo I took with Ben was taken right after they turned off some of the lights, so you can’t see Ben very well, unfortunately. Experience by Andrea

On January 14, 2014 we were lucky enough to attend the live taping of Girl Meets World at LA Center Studios. This was our 2nd time, the 3rd time they had a live audience and the 7th episode. The name of this episode is Girl Meets Father. The series will have “Girl Meets ____ “as the title for all of the episodes. The audience is taken in after going through a metal detector and taken to seats. The audience area holds about 150 people. Some are VIPs who are friends of the cast and crew. The audience gets to see the pilot episode shot months ago. In the pilot, we meet the Matthews Family. Coryand Topanga have been married for 14 yrs and live in New York. Cory is a middle school teacher. It isn’t clear if Topanga has a career. They have a middle school aged daughter named Riley, played be Rowan Blanchard. Riley’s best friend is Maya, played by Sabrina Carpenter. Maya is street smart and a rebel. Riley is sweet and a rule follower. They meet “Tristan” (Peyton Meyer)  on the subway. He is a handsome, sweet boy from Texas. Riley, Tristan and Maya are all in Cory’s middle school social studies class. By the way, it was announced that Tristan’s character is being renamed to Lucas. Shamus Farkle (Corey Fogelmanis) is another student in the class. He is smart, an overachiever and in love with Maya and Riley. When they filmed the pilot, there was going to be an older son played by Teo Halm. He appears in one scene but has since been replaced by a younger brother played by August Maturo. There is a scene in the subway where there is a poster saying something pro school related with an image of Mr Feeney. After the Pilot was aired, Michael Jacobs introduced each member of the cast exposing a bit how they were chosen and the back story to their auditions. He revealed that Danielle wasn’t the first choice as Topanga. He shared when the network execs were worried  about their first choice not working out, and that they’d need to have another search he said “I have Topanga right here.” She was there to play a but part in an upcoming episode. He explained that when the decided to have a 5yr old actor play a younger brother, he was prepared to write parts for a kid to “lay around” but when they found August they realized he could really act and be a valuable contributing part if the cast and storyline. The audience clapped for the cast and they began taping the 5 live scenes they were filming that night. The rest of the episode had been pre-taped and were shown to us on monitors where they fit in the episode. Each scene took about 5 takes and the story followed Riley
wanting to go to her school dance.  The dance was on the same night as a tradition Riley had with her father Cory. Maya got an “F” on an assignment and had to work through her issues with the Matthews family.
She doesn’t have support at home so the family take her under their wing. At two separate times Ben got the warm up guy’s microphone thanked us for coming. He called out a few members from the audience who were “super fans” he must be checking Twitter and hashtags. He knew two huge fans Debbie from New Jersey and Kelly. After the final scene was taped there was a curtain call. After That the stars came to sign autographs and take pictures with the audience. Ben saw me and said “Hey, are you Little Miss Hollywood?” Which is part of my Twitter name (@alexirob) The whole cast signed including Danielle had hasn’t signed the past two times. The seating area is about 5 ft above the set and there’s an iron structure between the audience area and set. We took pictures through the bars. After about 20 minutes security asked us to head out. The writing is much more sophisticated than other Disney shows. It is a comedy but the jokes are sweet not corny. This is a show parents will want to watch with their kids. Ben and Danielle have great chemistry. The entire young cast are talented and fun to watch. The show is really heartwarming and well written. It should air on Disney Channel in late spring or early summer.

Experience by Rene

Hey there! So I went to the taping with my daughters last night not knowing what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. Let me start off by saying-I’m sure this show is going to be a huge hit, and thank goodness, because what’s on currently isn’t cutting it. I cringe when I walk in the room and my kids are watching some of these shows that are on. Being a fan of BMW and knowing Michael Jacobs is behind it made me hopeful but with the Disney Channel I was still uncertain.

Cory and Topange were perfect! The same chemistry that they had on Boy Meets World is back . The girl that they chose to play their daughter, Rowan Blanchard is adorable and such a great mix of her parents. She also has that quirky charm that people like about Cory. I can see how her character is going to evolve and grow. She’s a great actress!    The little boy August, playing the son is super cute as well. Sabrina Carpenter plays her best friend and I can tell that the 2 of them are going to get in a lot of trouble.  Watching them when they weren’t shooting was fun. Those two have GREAT chemistry!  The whole cast is really well done, not too over the top , except for where it’s supposed to be, and with the perfect amount of emotion and heart. I am excited to watch this show with my kids!! FINALLY- something on TV to look forward to for the whole family!
