BMW Sequel: What have you been up to since Boy Meets World?
Maitland Ward: I got married in 2006. Moved to New York for a few years. Went to NYU to further my education. I came back to LA and continued studying at UCLA for screenwriting. I’ve been doing that ever since.
BMW Sequel: What are 5 things about you that fans may not know?
Maitland Ward: I’m a certified yoga instructor, I’m a blonde naturally, Maitland is my middle name, my first name is Ashley and yes it was me in White Chicks.
BMW Sequel: Do you have any new projects coming up?
Maitland Ward: I’m actually packaging a script I wrote. It’s a whole new world for me, being involved with the production element of something, but I’m having a great time doing it. I love being in control of my own material. Will keep everyone posted.
BMW Sequel: You have such a natural beauty. What are your skin-care must haves?
Maitland Ward: When I was filming in Canada I found the best face wash- Spectro Jel. I have sensitive skin that can break out from all the make-up while filming, and this was perfect! And I love Fresh products. Their tinted lip balm is all I wear and their moisturizer is great. I go to Kate Sommerville for facials.
BMW Sequel: What television shows do you watch in your free time?
Maitland Ward: Love Mad Men and Breaking Bad.
BMW Sequel: What celebrity has made you most star stuck?
Maitland Ward: Bill Clinton. It was really cool to meet a President. And he couldn’t have been nicer.
BMW Sequel: What is your go to music on your ipod?
Maitland Ward: I love music I can dance and work out to. Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, Swedish House Mafia, Mumford and Sons, Florence and the Machine. All that stuff. I love old school rap/hip-hop. I’m from Long Beach, so I have to be a Snoop fan. And Alanis Morissette is one of my all time favorite artists. I just think she’s a brilliant song writer.
BMW Sequel: Anything you can share with fans about this upcoming spinoff?
Maitland Ward: I think people are going to love the new kids on the show! They are the cutest and are so talented. I really think this is going to be a great show for Boy Meets World fans and for a future generation of fans.
BMW Sequel: Can we expect your character to appear?
Maitland Ward: I can’t really share any show info, but it would be fun if the old gang got back together again!
BMW Sequel: What is your favorite memory from your time on Boy Meets World?
Maitland Ward: The cast and crew. Seriously, the best group of people to work with. We had a lot of fun and it always felt like a family.
BMW Sequel: Why do you think Boy Meets World has kept its fan base?
Maitland Ward: The characters. They feel like friends. You can relate to them. The show has so much heart and the audience responds to that. It is a testament to the quality and depth of the show that so many fans are excited to see the new spin-off. I’m so proud that I was a part of the show. A once in a lifetime experience.
BMW Sequel: Do you think Girl Meets World will appeal to the younger generation of coming-of-age teens as well?
Maitland Ward: Yes! These kids are so adorable and really, really talented. They are going to be huge stars!
BMW Sequel: We saw that you visited the set of Girl Meets World on the day that the pilot was filmed. How was it like reuniting with your former ‘Boy meets World’ co-stars?
Maitland Ward: It was like no time had passed at all! A lot of the same crew was there, too. It was such a loving, happy reunion.
BMW Sequel: Have you stayed in touch with any of your former ‘Boy Meets World’ Co-stars?
Maitland Ward: We have, but we don’t get to see each other very often. And never all at once. So, seeing everyone on the set was so great! We’re all heading to Austin in June for the ATX film festival. Should be so much fun!
